8-Team Men’s Field Announced for the NSCRO Powered by Penn Mutual Rugby 7s National Championship

The top eight men’s college rugby 7s sides from the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) will be in competition next weekend at Talen Energy Stadium in suburban Philadelphia for the 2019 NSCRO Powered by Penn Mutual Rugby 7s National Championship.
The NSCRO National Championship is once again this year part of the festivities during the 2019 Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship, set for Friday, May 31st through Sunday, June 2nd.
The eight teams in this year’s title field include:
Christendom College (Front Royal, Virginia);
  • Claremont Colleges (Claremont, California);
  • University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (Stevens Point, Wisconsin);
  • University of Denver (Denver, Colorado);
  • Loyola University (Baltimore, Maryland);
  • New Mexico Highlands University (Las Vegas, New Mexico);
  • Susquehanna University (Susquehanna, Pennsylvania); and
  • Thomas More University (Crestview Hills, Kentucky).
The eight-team NSCRO competition in Chester gives men’s small college rugby 7s programs the opportunity to showcase their talents on a big stage. This year’s eight-team field is stacked with strong competition from across the country.

The 2019 Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship will be televised live by the ESPN family of networks and will feature the most television and digital coverage in the tournament’s history.
This year marks the ninth consecutive year that the event has been held in Philadelphia and at Talen Energy Stadium. The annual event features not only the nation’s top 24 men’s collegiate rugby 7s teams, but also the top 16 women’s teams. Action also includes the six team Freedom Cup competition to earn a spot in the main men’s 24-team field at next year’s championship, and a national high school tournament with both boys’ and girls’ teams.
